Canoeing Ireland will be carrying out a L2 Kayak Instructor Assessments at the PKC Club on Saturday 05th October. There will be two sessions 9:30am and 1pm. 4 Trainee Instructors are being assessed, following a number of years training and logging hours.
For this assessment to go ahead we need two sets of new or relatively new kayakers to be available for the trainee instructors to run a training session at the club in front of the Canoeing Ireland Assessors. We need at least 6 participants in each group. Each training session will last about 2.5 hrs on the water.
If you can support and volunteer, this will be an ideal opportunity to get some extra training in, with a full refresh of the L2 kayaking syllabus strokes. There will be refreshment and scones laid on after each session in the clubhouse.
If you can volunteer for either the 9:30am or the 1pm sessions (or want to do both) can you please reply to this post and we will reserve you a slot for the day. Many Thanks
Definitely up for this, I feel my loyalties lie with Jackie and Maurice after last week but happy to do both if you're stuck for numbers Also just to throw it out there, it might be worth reposting this in the upcoming events section as that's where I would usually look, took me a while to hunt this post down, so I'm guessing some of the other newbies will be in the same kayak... Bad pun intended looking forward to it (and maybe also the scones...)

All - Many Thanks to those who have offered up their time for next Saturdays assessments. We have the afternoon panel filled which is really fab !
We are still looking for volunteers for the morning session.
The Canoeing Ireland Assessor has advised that he doesn't mind if the club day goes ahead as normal, so there will be no clash with normal training. If you would like to help out - please reply and we will reserve you a slot. We will of course have some scones and refreshments for all participants.
Many Thanks
Maurice

Hi Maurice, I'd like to see how an instructor assessment is run to better prepare myself for one in the future so I can volunteer for the afternoon session to relieve someone who signed up to both sessions if you need me. I can even use club gear and boat to sell the 'beginner' look if that'll help Let me know if you need me
