We ran the river Maigue yesterday.
The level was 101 on the Castleroberts guage on RiverSpy.
The guage in Croom was 70 and can be accessed on waterlevel.ie
The IWW guide says take the right line every time the river splits but from looking at it yesterday the left lines were all clear.
It took us 4 hours, we played on the features in Croom and had to rush the weirs further downriver. I think stopping for a snack half way down is a good idea.
Some of the weirs were surprisingly sticky but nothing that would hold a person. Bank access is difficult at some of the weirs making rescue difficult. There were some nice play spots. The weir at Adare Manor was really playful.
We got off at the old viaduct which is downriver of the traditional spot. If the water level is low then stick to the normal get off. We ended up waist deep in mud trying to get to the bank
