| I know a few people are thinking of doing the lower liffey next sunday. The following changes have been announced. Message from WWKC Marathon Officer: Change of venue and time for Wild Water Kayak Club Lower Liffey Ranking Marathon Race, Sunday 15th September Due to the lack of water release from Leixlip dam (as a result of the very dry Summer), the race has been moved to a flat water venue along the Strawberry Beds. New venue: Racing will be from the Strawberry Hall pub, half way between Wrens Nest weir and Palmerstown weir on the north bank of the Liffey. Parking is limited, so we ask participants to pool cars and use canoe trailers where possible to fit as many paddlers/boats as possible into the off road car park. New time: In order to avoid a clash with the Scout Liffey Descent, which takes place on the same day, entries for ranking classes will close at 10.30 AM sharp, with ranking race classes starting at 11.00 AM. Novice race entries close at 10.00 AM sharp and novice event starts at 10.30 AM. Classes remain as before. Entry fees remain €10 for seniors and €5 for juniors and all participants must be members of Canoeing Ireland (to be proven by presentation of CI membership cards at point of entry). For those who are not members of CI, day membership can be purchased for €8. Day membership forms will be available at the event. For further information, please contact 085-1742261 after 8.00 PM or marathon@wwkc.net | |
