PostSubject: Lower Liffey Classic Race   Wed Mar 18 2009, 11:06

This race takes place this Sunday from Wildwater Kayak Club to Chapelizod at 1:00pm.

This is the last race of the season for the Wildwater Racing Calender and should be good fun.

It is hoped that there will be a few from the club travel up for this, and anybody half thinking about doing the liffey descent this year should come along and try it out.

I know there is a lot of talk about wavehoppers but people should be reminded that there are a number of different classes and creek boats are more than welcome in the GP Class.

So if your interested please reply here

Dave,
Was thinking of using one of the wavehoppers, if there is one free. No worries if not!

Canadian is the Open C2 class, so put it on the roof and come along. Canadian canoes are generally known as Open Canoes in the rest of the world.

Figured that C2 was canoe. Might be less swimming from the canoe than a k boat.

I'd be planning to be on the road for half eight Willie. And i'd be hoping to be back for 7ish that evening, unless i've to stay around and collect some silverware (most improved paddler i'd say - 2 swims last outing)

Danny, i know you have a real job Laughing unlike me but i'll be on the Lee around midday Friday for a paddle, i'd recommend trying the wavehopper around the sluice prior to taking on the mighty Razz Liffey.

Have a look at youtube for the Liffey Descent to get an idea of what the weirs are like.

Names so far

Sean Mac
Dave O'Leary
Micheal McSweeney
Donal Clancy
Mark Kirk + Some Sucker
Diarmuid Hickey
Willie Wallis (Subject to F.P.P.)
Danny O'Keefe

Any more takers. GP class is nice and handy
