Diarmuid has a loan of a van and is travelling up on fri nite so he can
bring a few boats and meet us at straffan in the morning. Mick Boylan
said he will collect the registration packs on the fri nite so if your
boat is with Diarmuid then you could head to Islandbridge, abandon rthe
car and either get the bus or car-pool back to straffan

PostSubject: Liffey Descent has Come & Gone   Sun Sep 14 2008, 19:02

Well yet another year has passed. The race consisted of over 700 boats with over 1100 paddlers taking part.

Phoenix Kayak Club had a number of members taking part. These were spread over three categories.

K-2 (super paddlers) Ciaran Cooke & Don O'Brien

Senior General Purpose: Dave O'Leary, Micheal McSweeney, Ray Ryan, Mick Boylan, Niall O'Donovan, Don O'Hanlon

Canadian Three: Mark Kirk,

Results can be found on
http://www.liffeydescent.com/Results/tabid/601/Default.aspx

There were a few swims had by people during the race but we all managed to finish in reasonable times, so i think there is no need to discuss the swims anymore Embarassed

Well done to all who took part in the Liffey Descent from the club, there were good times all around and an enjoyable day had by all.

Donal, I saw a video Diarmuid had taken at Straffen weir, it looked carnage alright especially with every Canadian going over Laughing Funny to watch. There were quiet a few swimmers by the time I reached Straffen, a lot of effort to avoid a stricken boat or dumped paddler. Look forward to your video and all the offical photos too. bounce
