Hey folks,
we are having a FREE freestyle coaching type day this Saturday the 6th in Cork for anyone who is interested. We are gonna keep it fairly informal, and will cater for everyone from complete freestyle beginners, to those wanting to learn how to triple-donkey-monkey-helix. We'll be doing some stuff in the Sluice, some in the Weir, and some flatwater stuffs.
There'll be demo boats from Munster Dive and Canoe available to try on the day, but numbers will be limited so if you can beg borrow or steal a playboat before, then do! If anyone needs gear (wetsuits helmets etc) you can ring Mark in the shop and let him know, and call up that morning to collect it. Alternatively if there's enough interest from the Club I'm sure ye could ask to use Club gear (note - that's up to the committee or whoever, I'm just putting out a suggestion!)
We'll be meeting at 12pm sharp at the Lee Fields car park by the slipway, so directly opposite from Phoenix site.
Any questions give myself, Mickey or Bucks a shout
Muireann santa

Good suggestion and I would recommend anyone to give this a go.

Its great fun + getting some of the basics of play boating will help you roll on rivers as its all about balance and fluid movements.

I can't make it myself as am in the Uk that weekend.

cheers

This is an excellent opportunity for members to avail of the huge freestyle experience which Mickey & Muireann have between them.

Anybody wishing to improve their paddling ability, this is your opportunity.
I am unsure if i'm around on Saturday. E-mail Cian Twohig (Competitions Officer) @ competitions@phoenixkayakclub.com if you are interested in doing this, which you should be and need gear.

If you are attending, it might be best to park on the opposite side to the club if you don't need gear as there is some construction work taking place at the club site Laughing

Very easily, i'd like to point out as well. You should remember i'm Big Boned not Fat. Sad

You should try using a smaller boat yourself. That way you might be able to stay in it going over drops, etc... Cool

That would be a change. Although the Big Boat probably suits you, for getting in and out and in and out and in and out and in and out for all the portaging lol! you do.

Dave - I'm not gonna stoop to your level, we'll discuss this next time we're on the river. Oh no wait, you're old and fragile with breaky bones you can't paddle - oops! ;-)

In other news... fair play to John for coming along on Sat and giving it socks in the weir. We'll make a playboater out of you yet!
