The first race of the new season is happening this weekend, Saturday 3rd October. It's a sprint race at Castletown rapids just outside Dublin.

It's a 2/3- stretch of water, if you've paddled a wavehopper before you'll be fine on this. If you've paddled the Liffey Descent you'll have paddled this stretch.

There's a race notice at http://www.irishwildwaterracing.com/irishwwr/data/season09-10/Liffeyseries2009.pdf

Don't know yet if I'm able to go, but anyone else interested?

L8r,
S

For anyone thinking of travelling this Saturday

Quote:

Hi,

Please note that the
venue for the WWR sprint race this Saturday has been changed to Sluice, Lucan.
This is because of problems with the hydro station on the upper Liffey. The
start of the event will be delayed for 30 mins (to allow anyone who travels to
Castletown to get down to Sluice). Thus the news start times are as
follows:

Senior Ranking Race
starts at 10.30am. Last entries 10.00. Second runs follow immediately after
first.

Junior Ranking Race 12.00
(midday). Last entries 11.30am.

A novice course/event
will be run, which does not require the sluice to be shot, as it will either
start below the sluice or will allow people to shoot the weir - a final decision
on the course will be made once the actual water level has been
determined.

Please pass this
message onto anyone you know who may be travelling to the
race.

Cheers,

Martin.

Sean,
I will give this a miss, it is just a bit too far to go.
Seamus.
