There's a Slalom race on Saturday Aug 15th on the Barrow just up
river from Graiguenamanagh on the Clashganny stretch it will be running
down 200m+ grade 2 section of rapids.

All are welcome to attend the
event we will hopefully have alot of boats for use on the day so if you
don’t have a slalom boat but want to give it a try no worries just pop
along and you can use one on the day.
This event is the 2nd race of 6 on the new
slalom calendar. Something abit different for a summers
day paddling in Ireland.
Entries will be taken from 10am -11am followed by a practice hour and then the competition starting at 12pm.

For more details and to pre-register drop an email too: irishcanoekayak@gmail.com

I've been talking to Paddy who's organising the race and he's going to have a few slalom boats there for people to borrow for the race, you'll probably have to share with other people.

Who's on for it? It's a great way to improve your paddling and make you realise how hard a grade 2/3- rapid can become.

l8r,

Seán Mc

Entries for this event will be taken 10am-11am with practice from 11-12.
First runs will start at 12 O'clock with second runs straight afterwards.

Each run should take under 2mins and there will be some plastic slalom boats available for people to borrow.

I'm not sure what the entry fee will be but at the last race it was €10 and €5 for juniors I think.

Very enjoyable day Sean cheers .
Hard to believe that a 200m slalom course can be more exhausting than the Ocean to City race.

Something that everyone should try at least once.
A great way of improving your paddling, and good fun.

Seamus, Billy.
