Phoenix Kayak Club are based on the River Lee, and run Beginners courses throughout the Summer, while also entertaining their Current membership every Thursday night.

If they got rid of the rubble and did something about the tow back in the centre in big water it could be a great place for a bit of fun. Any point in asking the Dublin Canoe Union to get involved?

Theres a big stake in the middle of it now,,, whos in charge of weirs anyway, council or esb or what???

Aha just read it,, council,, decision in around 3 years id say Smile

Looks like the County Council (as owners of the Regional Park) & the ESB (as "owners" of the river) , and maybe the OPW (flood relief works) would all be responsible.
It might be worth your while asking Mr Cullen, of Canoeing Ireland fame, for his option. He used to work as an engineer involved in slalom course construction, I think, and he was involved in the works carried out at Sluice in Lucan.
I recon theirs the makings of a mini slalom site down river from the weir, along with a play feature, and on a dam release river, it would be a great facility.
