PostSubject: Paddlefest 2012   Wed 22 Aug 2012, 6:04 pm

Hi Juniors,
The fifth annual Paddlefest is set to take place from 21-23 September 2012 in the Hidden Valley Camping and Caravan Park in Rathdrum, Co Wicklow. Promising to be the biggest and best Paddlefest ever, a staggering 500 junior paddlers aged 10-18 are expected to be catered for on the water over the weekend. The total number in attendance will be more than 1,000 people as parents, guardians and instructors head to Wicklow.

This is the biggest junior paddling event in Europe and it is clear to see why. The weekend offers junior paddlers the opportunity to seek instruction in their chosen kayaking discipline and also gives them the chance to try their hand at a host of other disciplines, including sprint, marathon, slalom, polo and lots more. While the event offers a fantastic opportunity to talent spot for future teams, the emphasis of the weekend is all about having fun.
This year we will be keeping the entry fee keenly priced at €40 per person, same as last year .We think that this represents great value for money. Closing date for applications for Paddlefest 2012 is September 3rd.

Check out canoe.ie for more details.

This is a great opportunity for juniors to try lots of disciplines.

With regard to my Members - Suggestions to Improve PKC post, I think we should try and send representation from the club with any juniors who are going. I'm sure there is plenty our instructors can learn to benefit the club in such an environment.

I'll try and make it if I can.

Paul Heff

You're an animal for logging those hours Gavin. I'll think about it during the week.

Hi folks,
I believe they are still looking for instructor volunteers for this weekend, if anyone is currently sitting on the fence. I'll be there Saturday anyway, would be great to see a few friendly faces.

I believe there's some form of bbq for instructor helper monkeys Saturday night so probably is worth going if you're around.
As for something green ... I have a horrible cold at the moment so no shortage of green coming out my nose, that do you?

I could give a hand if anyone thinks I would be of any use?
What is the plan? Camping or b&b? It was cold last weekend in France, I would hate to think what Wicklow would be like!

Camping Ralph, don't know what the requirements are for helping give the ICU a call and they can put you in touch with Paul who is organizing it
