PostSubject: Liffey Descent Post - Who's going etc   Thu 25 Aug 2011, 2:44 pm

Hi all,

Seeing as there is very little talk about it, who's actually doing the Liffey Descent on October 10th?

So far we have:
Paul Heff
Mairi Henderson
Adrian Kelleher
Darren Lane
Conor Lehane
Don O'Hanlon
Sean O'Sullivan
Emer Toomey
Donal Clancy
Mark Kirk
Martin Tarrant
Kevin Cahill
John Corridan

Click here for Liffey Descent Entry Form

Note: If you haven't done it before, you need to get Alan O'Brien, Evan Roberts or Michael McSweeney to sign it.

Fergus Mc made a great video of his exploits last year:

Last year a few of us stayed on the night before the race at the Glenroyal Hotel, Maynooth. Handy spot as its only about 15mins from the start, and they allowed us to store the boats indoors too! I'll be heading back this year because I need some beauty sleep before all those cameras on race day Cool . Who else is interested? Room rate (twin) is 79 euro B&B or 129 inc dinner.

Paul Heff

Not sure about the closing date, it may depend on how many apply to do it. I think there's a cut off of 1000, but there was only 800 last year.

There is a late entry fee for those who enter after 30th September, so you still have time to take the plunge!

Sean,
Not sure either myself but will have to leave straight after the race.
Heading up is a bit more flexible.

Darragh,
Generally, you leave boat and paddle etc. at start and leave car at the finish.
A bus is organised from the finish to the start by the ICU but leaves a few hours before the race, so there is a lot of waiting around.
In the last few years, there has been club members who were spectating who dropped people back to the start. Not sure if we have any spectators who could do the same this year?
Sometimes a competitor volunteers to drop a group back to the start, but it's a pain for them at the end and someone else would have to drop them back on top of that.

Change of plan (again!).

I am doing it this year. pirat

Only a couple of people have asked Sean O'Sullivan for boats???

If you need boats, you need to contact him asap.

I will post up location maps, shuttle info soon for the uninitiated. Seems the ICU have forgot again this year.......

Paul

Change of plan - mark wont be making it - i am going but wont be paddling so will gladly do shuttle bunny

i will bring a 7 seater - if the drivers let me know what time you want to be collected at the finish for the shuttle i will be there.
