Hey Joe,
I'd agree with Paul, the Powerhouse is a lot of paddle. Alan has a set of Powerhouse I believe, he might bring them down to the pool if you ask nicely. Wink Wink I'd try the Players and Sidekicks also before buying the Powerhouse.

I have the Sherpa's myself. What don't you like about them out of interest? I had Roughstuff Kinetics before the Sherpa's and found the lack of "initial grab" as Paul put it, a bit of a pain until I got used to the Sherpa's. I really noticed it when trying to catch waves in the surf, you have to start your run in a little bit earlier. The Sherpa's aimed at river running, so come into their own when your doing a bit of distance. Far less stressful on the arms and shoulders. However its each to their own when it comes to paddles a lot of the time. I'd try before you buy if I was you and try as many different paddles as possible. (Seamus has a lovely set of Select Paddle's, they are Select right Seamus?).

My 2 cent...........

P.S. Your welcome Paul. Very Happy Very Happy

Actually Sean,

Seamus had two lovely Select blades, although I think he'd prefer if they were still connected as the one paddle!! Twisted Evil

thanks lads, i bought the sherpa because it is for river running, but when i roll i pull down with my right arm when using the sherpa, joe jnr has the player which i tried and right arm and blade stayed up and i rolled no problem, this is why i was thinking of the powerhouse, big blade catches more water therefore i roll easier and get to breath faster, but if the player will do me for level 2/3 rivers and surfing then thats my best bet. ( rob joe jnr's paddle ) Very Happy

The size of the blade has nothing to do with the roll if you have good technique ( just look at those eskimo's and their greenland paddles ) .

I'll 2nd James on his technique point.

I suspect where you are benefiting with the Player is its extra grab on the water, it supports that much more initially in the sweep to compensate for your technique.

Technique is preferable to your equipment saving you, technique is what gets you out of trouble when you need your combat roll. Trust me, I have experience of this!! Rolling Eyes Shocked affraid

RE Greenland paddles, don't forget wood has lots of natural bouyancy, which helps.
