See e mail below from the games

Hi,

Four days to go!  Once again, thanks to everybody for supporting the event. If you could take a few moments to read through this e-mail as we would like to highlight a few points for race day.

- Please follow the directions from the guys helping out with parking. NO parking will be allowed on site, due to access reasons.

- Registration tent will be open from 07.45am on the day. Race fee is €35 (We can only accept cash on the day) Please try to have to exact fee in cash.  You will need to sign in and collect your race pack, the earlier the better!

- If possible, please try to get boats to the start as soon as you have signed in.

- Race brief will be held beside registration tent @ 09.20, with the first race kicking off @ 09.30. (Final break down of categories is yet to be decided) The team event will be starting just after the individual categories, please have your team members confirmed with the registration tent.
Due to the volume of competitors there will be no lunch break and racing will run continuously. You will be able to get lunch between races.

- Racing is expected to be wrapped up by 16.30.

- The party will be taking place in Revolution, Waterford. Doors open from 20.00. (You will need a wrist band to gain access)

- Better Than You Imagined will be premiered @ 21.00.

Please respect all property, and put rubbish in bins provided.

After party wrist bands and t-shirts for non-competitors will be available at registration tent.
Party - €5
Party/T-Shirt - €15

Levels down South are looking reasonable, and the Colligan should be good to go.

See you all Saturday,

Does anyone know if this is similar to a 'peak uk' challange.
Eg extream race, with tricks that you have to do on the way down which may include gates, wave wheels etc.
Or looking at the photos is it just a simple race, in which case why are they not paddling longer faster boats???

Can't quite figure it out. If you have done even before can you give me some details?
Thanks

jeremy

Hey,
last two years there've been "tasks" in the team event, straight through boater-x race in the individual. Tasks last year were to catch a teeny eddy just above the main drop (too small for big boats), to do a roll in one of the eddies and something else which I can't remember! There was one brave soul attempted it in a sea kayak, he did 99% of it backwards, cos the river was too narrow for him to turn around in!
Hope that's of some use

Don't be ridiculous Micheal, everyone knows I am under strict doctor's orders to be a well behaved cripple and wear the splint on my broken thumb til at least Monday, so obviously I will be sitting at home behaving myself...
