once again canoeing on the lee went well.
weather was fantastic.
Sinead is now the clubs solo paddling champion, and sean was tutoring people in how to use wind to best advantage.

next week noel is giving a demo of this next technique (you have a week to prepare noel)

Hello,

Thanks for that info Hugh. Ya Sunday went great. No snags and the weather was perfect so we got plenty of photos.

We paddled from Youghal bridge with the incoming tide to Villierstown. It took just over two and half hours...... a bit long timing wise due to Richard having to paddle back a bit to get the keys of his car from my car Razz

It was windy at times but was easy to manage due to all the ' just in case ' gear i had and Clodagh ( 4 yrs of age) in the front. She had a great time. I let her paddle away too and now she wants a canoe of her own.

All in all a great time and i cant wait to get out again. We re thinking Tallow bridge to Capoquin next.

Thanks for all the tuition!!!!

Sinead Very Happy

PostSubject: great   Tue 26 Oct 2010, 4:53 pm

sounds cool, well done.
the river downstream of tallow bridge is wiggly so might be further than first imagined.
I saw little paddles in Union chandlery for 25 Euro and a nice (ish) wooden paddle for 65 ish.
I don't plan to be there next week but Noel will be running things, if you run it past him, it might be a good time to bring Clodagh along.

regards

Hugh

Ok looks like all against Saturday 30/10/10/CANCELLED.

Reasons .Young Sean away in Belgium.Verling week off .Cathal out .Myself indoors cuddled up to my Teddy affraid affraid affraid .

Weather is dire so I'd doubt any open canoe would function tomorrow.

See you all next .Take care .

PostSubject: keeping the spirit alive   Wed 03 Nov 2010, 1:15 pm

we need to think about saturday.
I can't make it .
however it would be fantastic to know that the tuffies, the 'hard core half paddlers' could not be stopped from going out.
that Noel would once again rally, the believers, the followers of the path, into a furious outpouring of river Lee splish-sploshing; the true path of the paddle.

I'll be kayaking; sorry!

I think the weather will be cold but good, with a moderate west, north west airflow, the rain, forecast, will have past by sat morning.

regards

Hugh

ps I'm thinking our last trip should be on the lower bandon?? please respond with your thoughts.
