PostSubject: Info on Lower Bandon   Fri Oct 30 2009, 10:44

Hi there,

A few of my friends are running the Lower Bandon tomorrow from Bandon to Kinsale. I haven't been in my Inazone in 2 years , so I'm anxious to find out as much as possible before I go for the plunge again. Some of the guys in the group'll be paddling their sit on tops.

Is it literally a flat paddle all the way (bar the ripples at the chip van)? Any features worth noting?

I looked at some of the photos in the gallery- is that weir just above the get on?

How long should it take? (There'll prob be a handy flow with all the rain today?)

Thanks in advance,
Deb!

you can get on in the town by the gym and run the weir , or you can get on by the opel garage and skip the weir , once there is a good bit of rain today there should be no rocks popping out on the surface but watch the water to see if there are rocks under the water which could damage your boat .

Hmmm!
There's always features worth noting.
Water levels change features all the time.
Probably best to do a recognised ICU course and learn the safe way to paddle.
PKC runs these courses all through the summer months.

I'd say it will be very high tomorrow, the Upper Bandon was at 1.2M on the gauge in Dunmanway at 4pm & still rising
