Sea Kayak Demo Day???

Alright folks! I was knocking around this idea with Paul yesterday. I�ve been asked by a few people about sea kayaks. Which make and model? Should I go for plastic or fibreglass (or wood in Pats case)? We have a good selection of sea kayaks between members and club boats, so I�ve been thinking about a �Bring & Try/Demo Day�. I�ve mentioned something about this to Simon (P&H Capella) and Kevin (Valley Aquanaut). I know a few more sea kayakers outside the club who might be interested ...

Have Wed night's just about run thier course - not much there in the way of light now.
How about a night paddle 14th Oct see if we can find a bit of phosphorescence in the water. Was thinking about Cuskinny at 20:00 ish. Alternative might be sandycove...any thoughts needs to be somewhere quiet not much traffic?

Hey Guys!

I completed my level 2 kayaking course in early August and have been out weekly on the river with the club however I was wondering if there will be any courses / training etc for sea kayaking!

I would love to try it but would need gear. I have been checking out courses in West Cork but they are quite expensive!

Sorry didn't get to the paddle tonight got hung up at work. Was thinking of heading out from Roche's Point on Sunday morning at 10. If you can believe the weatherman forecast is reasonable for Sun. Can wait or meet up with anybody putting in from Western side of the harbour if that suits better. For anybody who might be interested in the Cliffs of Moher trip (is it still on?) but hasn't done much sea paddling then could go from Roche's to Inch and do some instruction/practice in the waves? Thinking ...

Anybody interested in a paddle around the Great island on this Friday morning. Was thinking of get on about half nine at the east ferry, Midleton side and a paddle anti-clockwise around the island. High tide is for haklf ten so we would be fine to get pass Bellvelly Bridge. Bit of wind forecast but nothing to major. If interested post back here

Wednesday Night Sea Paddle

Wednesday night will be a regular sea paddle for the summer months. Meeting point will generally be Whitepoint in Cobh, but if heading down coast could be beach at Roches Point or Pier at Aghada to accomodate people from that side of harbour.

Thursday Night Sea Paddle 16th July

Right lads, A lot of people have mentioned that we're not getting out it the sea kayaks so here we go. I'm suggesting a sea paddle next Thursday night. Weather isnt looking great so maybe meet at Kinsale bridge. If condition are against us we can stay in the harbour or head up river. If weather improves before then we can head out to the Old Head. So if your interested put your name down. Looks like we wont have a trailer so boats and gear will have to be picked up Monday or Tuesday night ...

Whatever seat you have, make certain that it is indeed long and puts NO pressure on the back of your thighs and butt. Sciatic pain is the result of any pressure impressed upon the legs.

Windguru says light winds and high tide is 17:20 on Sat so it's round the island to get some miles for ocean to city (27k). Probably put in and gone at cuskinny at 5 on Sat afternoon if anybody feeling fit.
