Ok since we canceled the Bandon trip. I was wondering who wanted to do a session on the lee on friday the 30th of Oct? Depending on who is able we will pick the time and the options

I am available all day.

The water and paddlers can decide if we stay on the Lee fields or paddle down from the graveyard.

I will be paddling anyway, post here if your interested and when your free.

Will do the lower bandon in November and see how we get on

Hi

I am planning to wavehopper the club trip river this Sunday if anyone is

interested? Just got my free pass and suggest we meet and get on and

get out the same as the club trip. Makes it easier for gear and car

pooling. I will be going straight from work so will meet at the get on

spot.

Post on the official outings forum (and the trip thread) if your wavehopping, otherwise I might go home to bed. (Only need one other wavehopper to force me to be there)

Hi guys,

Been chatting to people (as I do) and wondering what the master plan for kayaking (in a fast nature) is?

Some ideas to get peoples opinions on different topics, and feel free to add your own ideas.

--Polo: should we try a one day polo competition with the locals entering beginner teams? Or just try the odd mornings training in the winter

--Time trials: more? or set up a training meet to get ready for the winter season? WW calendar on this forum.

--Wavehpper river trips? ...

It's on Saturday and starting at 2pm, so you don't even have to get out of bed early and you still have Sunday free to watch the All-Ireland football final.

There's an 11km and an 18km course (Liffey was 31km, so this is short). As well as catering for all classes of GP boat he'll also have a class for sea-kayaks.

UNDER THE MICROSCOPE-DOES IT PAY TO SURF?

Wash-hanging or wash-riding as it’s termed on the continent is canoe-sports equivalent of slipstreaming. The key difference from the cycling equivalent is that instead of tucking in behind to sit in a wind-shadow, wash-hanging involves using the wake of the other paddler to facilitate the glide on your boat. This technique is integral to marathon racing and consequently groups of paddlers often work together in an echelon shape formation.

What is the difference between Marathon and Sprint canoeing?

Folks,

this race is on this coming Sunday. Its not as bad as it sounds (marathon) as the distance for the race is only 5.5 miles. There are a number of different classes for this race and people can paddle as quick or as slow as they like. Its just a bit of fun, but it would be nice to try and get people heading out for these races, especially if Phoenix want to try and run a race this year.

Creek Boats, Canadians, Wavehoppers, Playboats, K-Boats, you name it, theres a class for ...

Hi All,

Planning to stand in the rain with a clipboard and orgainse a TT for the Lee fields. Depending on who is interested maybe one a month on the club night (thurs)

I will post some dates soon. How about a start in March?

You will choose your boat K/ WW/ revenge (stock car option) and stick to it.

2 runs on maybe 1km course (what do you all think?)

Inbetween each run you will take a spell at safety cover for the stability challenged.

Input required/ needed - use your voice

Ladies/Gents,

this race is due to take place on the 8th of March. It is not as far a drive as the Boyne Classic and would be an ideal opportunity to have a go at Wildwater racing. The name sounds scarier than it actually is. General purpose boats are able to enter this race so you don't have to be nervous about getting into a wavehopper right away.

I myself am going to be at sea for this period but would encourage anyone interested to give it a go.

Race conditions were quite poor, with a really strong wind blowing across river, and light rain increasing to heavy showers during the day.

Just after a spin on the Lower Bandon in my wwr boat, it's a great spin for a wavehopper and if you're thinking of racing ww it's great practice. If anyone wants to go paddle it in wavehoppers let me know and I'll be there.

It's a nice easy run to get used to wavehoppers and there's no reason for anyone to swim.

There is a race the following Sunday in Carlow so if people feel they are not up to paddling wavehoppers just yet, it should be noted that this race has a general purpose class as well. Either way come alongon Saturday ...
